How are your happy weekend going?
Today I am going to talk about our residential home renovation in Sunnyhills.
This one-story property with 619m2 land area is around 40 years old and has 3 bedrooms, 1 living&dinning, 1 kitchen, 1 bathroom and 1 toilet.
This is a quite old house that Japan Homes renovated 2 years ago but it still looks so new! !
The refurbishment includes New kitchen & new bathrooms. Granite kitchen benchtop and the same granite benchtop for the laundry room. new laundry sink and storage. new carpet and new paint throughout.
After opening the entrance door the clean, beautiful dark grey tiled hallway welcome you.
Living, Dinning and Kitchen is an open plan with the Kitchen morning countertop.
What we liked to do was to put an accent in the living so we used the brown color.
I believe that if the wall was all the same color it would be less attractive than now!
Painting has a huge effect on the interior atmosphere, dont you think so??
We installed new kitchen with laminated timber flooring.
We used the black granite bench top that makes a sharp contrast to the white cabinets.
Further, the morning counter provides functional space for serving dishes, eating, as a table, etc.
We used the same type of the benchtop as kitchen.
Together with the dark grey floor tiles the benchtop color makes a nice contrast to the cabinet and wall color.
Do you know the Japanese Style Bidet?
Looks clean and good, right?
We put down the carpet on the floor.
This is Master Bedroom with walk-in wardrobe
Again we used the brown color paint for the accent.
The other bedroom:
Here is nice&clean white paint.
Please check out our quality of painting!!

I love architecture and design so much that I have been to so many buildings and places around the world such as Sydney Opera House in Sydney, CCTV building in Beijing, Empire State Building in New York, Royal Palace in Bangkok, Houryu-Ji in Nara, etc. However, the residential building attracts me the most. For nearly 10 years I have visited heaps of local and historical homes around New Zealand which I feel the builders’ great workmanship as well as occupants’ life.
From this experience my aim is to design and provide the comfortable and affordable houses with the spirit of Japanese workmanship that people enjoy and improve their quality of life.
In this blog I write my everyday experience of work to show what is a designer’s work and how it goes at Japan Homes.
Any comments or questions are very welcome.
